Not you parents' newspaper

Newspapers might be on their way out but some feel as though it just needs to be adjusted for the digital age. Regardless, the traditional newspaper as we know it is dying very fast. Here is some info from Gajitz:

Designers have been all about the e-paper designs lately, and a major electronics company even unveiled a working prototype in early 2010. But so far, the designs haven’t centered on trying to maintain a familiar form. That’s where this concept from student designers Manny Darden, Jae Kim and Scott Liao differs from the others: it’s meant to call to mind the traditional look and feel of a newspaper. Its four-column layout does indeed look like one of those old-fashioned newspaper contraptions, but with some notable improvements: it’s weatherproof, the content is user-controlled, and it’s much thinner than a newspaper but with more information.

Canon Wonder Camera Concept promises single-lens perfection (video)

I don't know how I missed this, but this looks sweet. This will be the death of all SLR cameras.
Here is what Engadget had to say...............

HTC EVO Shift 4G release date January 9th 2011

This new HTC Evo Shift/Knight looks great! For those of you who really need that keyboard in your life, this is the smartphone for you. Here are some of the specs:

The smartphone in this picture appears to be inside of a case, so the actual device will be slightly smaller.

Additional Details of the HTC Shift 4GThe full set of specifications for this smartphone has yet to emerge, but a great many details have leaked out.
The Shift 4G is going to run Android OS 2.2 on a 1 GHz processor, and this might be a dual-core chip.
On its front will be a 3.7-inch touchscreen and standard set of control buttons. The resolution for the display is not yet known, but it's most likely WVGA.
The Sprint logo on the leaked pictures makes it clear which carrier will be offering this model. And the "4G" in its name indicates that it will support this carrier's WiMAX service. This would make it Sprint's third model with this very fast cellular-wireless networking service.
Unconfirmed reports also indicate that this smartphone is going to have an 8 megapixel camera, but, somewhat surprisingly, it won't have a front-facing camera.
However, some details still remain a mystery, such as its storage capacity.
The HTC Knight/Shift 4G will reportedly be released early next year, possibly at CES, a giant electronics tradeshow that kicks off on January 6. - source

The Beaver

At first I thought this was a documentory on Mel Gibson's life. After seeing the trailer, I'm even more convinced that its a story about his life.

Coming out Feb 11, 2011

Two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster directs and co-stars with two-time Academy Award winner Mel Gibson in The Beaver – an emotional story about a man on a journey to re-discover his family and re-start his life.

Plagued by his own demons, Walter Black was once a successful toy executive and family man who now suffers from depression. No matter what he tries, Walter can't seem to get himself back on track... until a beaver hand puppet enters his life.

Take Me Home Tonight

This film looks funny. Coming out March 4 2011

As the summer of 1988 winds down, three friends on the verge of adulthood attend an out-of-control party in celebration of their last night of unbridled youth. Starring Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler and Teresa Palmer, Take Me Home Tonight is a raunchy, romantic and ultimately touching blast from the past set to an awesome soundtrack of timeless rock and hip-hop hits. Recent MIT grad Matt Franklin (Topher Grace) should be working for a Fortune 500 company and starting his upward climb to full-fledged yuppie-hood. Instead, the directionless 23-year-old confounds family and friends by taking a part-time job behind the counter of a video store at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. But Matt's silent protest against maturity comes to a screeching halt once his unrequited high school crush, Tori Frederking (Teresa Palmer), walks into the store. When she invites him to an epic, end-of-summer party, Matt thinks he finally might have a chance with the girl of his dreams. With his cynical twin sister Wendy (Anna Faris) and best friend Barry (Dan Fogler), Matt embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime evening. From stealing a car to a marriage proposal to an indescribable, no-holds-barred dance-off, these friends share experiences that will change the course of their lives on one unforgettable night in the Go-Go '80s.

Black Swan

I was able to go to my local indie theater and see the new movie everyone is buzzing about called "Black Swan." Talk about a crazy psychological thriller. The acting is done so well that for a minute I thought I was going crazy like the characters in the film.

Here is the synopsis:

A psychological thriller set in the world of New York City ballet, Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as Nina, a featured dancer who finds herself locked in a web of competitive intrigue with a new rival at the company (Mila Kunis).

Kill the Irishman

Happy Monday to all!

I just wanted to start the day off with a few films coming out next year.
First, "Kill the Irishman" which comes out March 11 2011
As a Christopher Walken fan, I will pretty much see anything he puts out.

Here is the synopsis:

Over the summer of 1976, thirty-six bombs detonate in the heart of Cleveland while a turf war raged between Irish mobster Danny Greene (Ray Stevenson) and the Italian mafia. Based on a true story, "Kill the Irishman" chronicles Greene's heroic rise from a tough Cleveland neighborhood to become an enforcer in the local mob. Turning the tables on loan shark Shondor Birns (Christopher Walken) and allying himself with gangster John Nardi (Vincent D'Onofrio), Greene stops taking orders from the mafia and pursues his own power. Surviving countless assassination attempts from the mob and killing off anyone who went after him in retaliation, Danny Greene's infamous invincibility and notorious fearlessness eventually led to the collapse of mafia syndicates across the U.S. and also earned him the status of the man the mob couldn't kill.
